I generally would say clean eating means avoiding grains (other than beer as the brewing process removes the nasty anti-nutrients from the grain) and potatoes, and treating refined sugar (with the possible exception of honey) like HIV.

I tend to joke around a lot when these questions come up. Everybody has different opinions about what clean (or good) eating really is. The problem is that some guys get very OCD about the whole thing and end up hurting their gains in the gym because of it.
Really, I think the whole idea of clean eating is greatly overhyped. I know a lot of old people that are living great lives while still eating ice cream every night, eating processed foods, eating corn fed beef with hormones, etc... These things will not magically make you fat or unhealthy. Sitting on your butt all day will. |

Meat, veggies, butter, nuts, berries. In that order. When I eat this way, I function much better, and health and function define clean eating for me. When I can enjoy good food without suffering physical or mental distress, I'm happy.
