No problem guys.

If I were a powerlifter I'd still do the same thing, but like jwood said I'd drop the fasting and just eat plenty of fat and protein throughout the day leading up to my training.

A big thing for me is the preworkout meal with plenty of fat and protein. Since these things take longer to digest and digestion basically stops during training that meal is basically still starting to digest as I finish my training. At that point I get some grain based simple carbs that follow the fats and proteins and give me that awesome insulin spike. My insulin sensativity is through the freaking roof when I fast and then train without having any carbs first, so it all goes streaming into my muscles.

This diet combined with my liberal use of BCAA's around and during my workouts have given me awesome recovery and I've actually notived a difference. I can go running multiple times, play football with the guys, pull the sled some and still set some PR's on my heavy lifts all in one week.

Thanks guys. My current plan is to do this:

- Protein, fats and leafy veg' only during the day
- Carb's with moderate protein and fat during the evening
- Same kind of meal post training but will also include a shake with whey and dextrose straight after training

Ran this yesterday and felt pretty good on it. Will be interesting to see if I can keep it up when I get back to training. Also think I need to invest in some more Xtend to keep me going throughout the day.

Are you tracking how many carbs that is in a given day? How many are you getting from the dextrose? (Just curious)

This is pretty much what I did every day for about 3 years before leaning more Paleo.

To begin with probably not. I don't want to get overly precise with it, I just want to feel better and have more energy and potentially less fat/more muscle at the same weight.

Honestly, at this point I'm the same way with the same goals. I had to track things when I was cutting with this plan, because with the different types of eating throughout the day I couldn't trust my feelings of hunger which meant I had to stick to the numbers more carefully.

I'm not tracking anything at the moment and still feel that it's working very well.

So this is my third day on the new structure. Energy levels feel good despite only 5 hours sleep last night. Not really craving carb's during the day as long as I eat plenty of protein and fats. Last night for dinner I carbed up with:

Shepherds Pie (ground beef with mashed potato on top baked together for our US cousins)
Apple Pie
Milk (full fat) and a large kit kat

Oh and after two days my trousers fit better and I'm down a notch on my belt. Good times.

Interesting to see how this works with training from next week.

What are your proteins and fats during the day?

Not sure. Here's what I've been eating:

Get to work, large coffee
9am 3 scoops of whey in water
Cashew nuts or almonds throughout morning
Lunch at 1pm - Fatty chicken cuts: legs, thighs, wings. Today was 16 wings.
Around now another two scoops of whey in water and nuts as and when

Carb's start when I get home around 7. On training days I finish around 8 so they will start then.

Although nuts have good fats, they also have some incidental carbs, so you may want to track that just for a day and see how much you're getting. If you're going over 30g carbs pre-training then you aren't getting the full effect of loading after training.
