Good points.

I agree. Casein has become an afterthought. Even for me.

I always drink whey with milk for the best of both worlds. I wrote a post about the whole "whey+water only post workout" argument a while back:

Post Workout
Great read, Kev. Backs up everything I've read myself.

I've been taking Casein as my PWO and pre-bed shake for almost 3 weeks now (instead of whey since my stomach can't seem to tolerate it anymore) and the scale is moving up.

Isn't there some stigma about casein collecting in the bowel in some people?
Sorry Nard, didn't mean to scare you. But you're statement that the scale is going up triggered my memory.

If you can take casein but not whey, then it sounds like you are either allergic to lactose only (which is questionable, because most WPIsolates I'm familiar with remove lactose almost completely) OR you're allergic to the type of beta casein that casein powder is NOT made from...

Either way, it's still difficult to be sure. For instance, you might be using a blend with a butt load of lactose in it...

I'm using Optimum Standard Casein.

I tried using ON Whey before that.

I taken whey with milk, lactose free milk and with lactaid and it still ripped me up everytime.

Back in the day (my first 3-4 years of lifting) I relied on old school casein protein powder...powdered milk. GNC mixed for crap back in the 80's and powdered milk was so much easier to use. Probably cheaper too. Can't remember.

Powdered milk = 80% casein, 20% whey. (Correct me if I'm wrong)

sum1 told me 1nce that whey & casein don't digest properly if taken together & that powders with mixed protein profiles are sumwhat inneffctive. wether this is tru or not I have no f*cking idea, but lately I've been using just a whey, & just a casein for dif feeding times.... IDK WTF the real deal is tho...???... I'm def no doc or scientist... LoL

I tried ON gold standard whey several months ago. It did exactly what I expected.
