I was fairly lean until about the age of 27. Lived on a lot of processed foods and sugar during various periods of my life.
As a general rule it doesn't make sense.

Take a look here, one large banana has around 17g of sugar in it but it's doubtful it will be suggested that you stop eating bananas even though that would be in excess of 3x the amount the study, that you refer to in your first post, suggests would turn to fat on consumption...
