No idea, however, given that I used to eat lots of sugar and none converted to fat, unlikely; it may be the case for an already overweight and sedentary person.
If the info is from a study, studies are normally carried out on a specific group and not usually across the range of people that exists, so people doing cardio (distance runners, skiers, sprinters etc) may well burn lots of sugar and never convert it to fat but be taking in way more than 6g at a time.
