Default Cast iron pots and pans

I have a few cast iron pots and pans that I like to use. However my coworker told me that these will add iron to the food you are cooking in them. Is this true? I have never heard of such a think until now.

I have used cast iron skillets for years, and like them. The one I presently use, and one in which I got for my anniversary this year, has an etched in comment on the bottom of the pan: "Wifes' Husband Tamer". (LOL). I wouldn't be too concerned about young man.

Peace and happiness to you and your family,

Don

I have one that I use when we go camping. I am not concerned about it. If it was unhealthy for you and released too much iron then you would not see them on the market today.

I would say that it is not going to matter. If they were not safe they would not be on the market.

Yes they do but not enough to concern you; it's the one manner in which people used to be assured of a certain amount of "dietary" iron and many no longer are with stainless steel implements and such.

This. When the wife's iron was low, I prepare spaghetti sauce in cast iron. Tastes good and helped her get the iron she needed.
