My 2 cents...not a fan of ratios when bulking. I simply think it's not needed. Determine your minimum protein and calorie intake for the day, hit them, and usually carbs and fats take care of themselves as long as you're not under-consuming fats, using processed low fat this and that and eating all lean meats and egg whites.

I think for the sake of adherence to the diet, you really want some degree of flexibility. If you're already deciding between 5% on your macros you really are going to make life unnecessarily difficult for yourself.

Have a greater degree of flexibility, set yourself up for success rather than stringently control everything and set yourself up for failure.

True.. You two are spot on, BendtheBar and Faz... trying to figure out a ratio is just asking for anxiety and OCD.,. im just gonna do what feels right and try to get in adequate protein and enough carbs to fill me up..

thanks, great points

Out of curiosity though, is 40/30/30 or 40/40/20 more optimal

I use this method. I make sure I get 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight.

Diet and training are both highly individual. For example, I know quite a few people who have done great on high fat/low carb diets and are both lean and strong. In contrast, I find I do better with more carbs than fats.

Protein should always be as high as possible, though.
