Default Pros and cons of low carb diet

Can anyone on here tell me what the pros and cons are of a low carb diet? How long can you stay on one?

Hello Heidi, for me its was all pro, no cons. Once I got the correct amount of fats in my diet to substitute the omitting of the carbs I was all happy and dropping weight.

Cons...you need to learn how to cook. You also need to research, so you have options.

I guess "need" is a strong choice of words, but it does help if you can cook, spice food properly, and have plenty of choices.

I've been low carb for almost 4 years now. No negatives, only positive effects on weight loss, muscle mass, and blood work.

Me too! It takes a few months for it to work its magic, and my carbs are VERY low, 20-50g a day unless I'm being stupid and eating a pizza when I shouldn't. Most people may not need to go that low, but diabetes is a PITA when it comes to carbs.

If you're doing low rep strength training then you'll be fine. Bodybuilding type training beats the glycogen stores out of your muscles so at the very least carbs will have to be consumed around training time.
