Some of his non-lifting stuff is just as crazy. I don't even want to post it here.

One of the interesting aspects of the lifting community is the dichotomy that exists between these two groups:

1) The turtled lifting guru, who knows a lot but has never trained with other successful athletes, and doesn't know common names in the lifting community Like Rippetoe, Starr, whoever. They tend to dismiss things that a high percentage of elites use, and have used for decades, perhaps even calling it bro science.

2) The turtled successful lifter, who knows what works for him, but who has never taken the time to step outside his doors and see what's working for others. He tends to think that he's found a great new system of training or dieting that will apply to others.

On paper they sound like the same creature, but one often doesn't look like they lift and is filled with information, while the other looks jacked and strong, but lacks information.

Granted, these 2 groups represent a small portion of the lifting community, but they impact information nonetheless.

The point in all this is obvious. Don't turtle yourself, or assume you know everything. Combine theory and experience, and not just your own experiences. Play, try, and experience things for yourself.

Put things in a proper lens. Maybe BCAAs didn't do anything for you because you're benching 115 pounds and training like a limp noodle. You have to be willing to take an honest look at life and training if you want to succeed.

Train hard and try things for yourself. Don't assume that lifter X will have the same experiences.

I left another site because of people who don't lift giving advice. I don't care how smart they are if they don't lift.
