Default Is this true?

Is this true? Muscle soreness from a workout will make your muscles grow big? I did not think that it was but I figured this was a good site to ask.

No. It's not true.

When you workout hard, you will often get sore, but it has nothing to do with growth.

So not true. I do not think that being sore has anything to do with how fast you grow. If that were the case I would be one huge person.

Soreness usually comes from the cells that connect the muscle fibers, not from the muscles themselves.

To add, muscle soreness is usually caused by stresses that are much greater than your body is used to. This can be starting a new exercise, doing a more sets/reps, or using a weight much higher than usual.

Always gauge progress by numbers and visualizations, not soreness or burn. Bigger arms or legs (measured w/tape), 10lbs on your squat, you can now see 4 abs instead of two rolls of fat, body weight is down 6lbs, etc.
