Default confused about muscle confusion

I am confused about muscle confusion. Yesterday I followed a link to the supplement store and found a conversation on muscle confusion and no one seemed to agree. Is muscle confusion needed and if so when?

Muscles grow from adaptation to stressors caused by load. Those stressors have to be progressively more demanding in order for continued growth to occur. If you are continually switching things then the load will not be progressive and growth will stagnate.

Ignore most of the information in that thread.

Someone pulled out a Rippetoe chart and tried to use it as proof that muscle confusion was needed. I officially parted ways with the discussion at that point...

I was there and I agree 100% with BtB. Misinformation is strong at some parts of the interwebz.
Worry about increasing the load you are using on any given exercise.

If confusion was the key to muscle gains I would have gained 20lbs just reading that thread.

I just "lift heavy things up and put them down again" but on a serious note, I'd never heard of the term "Muscle Confusion" until I saw it being mentioned on forums...use it, or lose...is simpler.

The P90X workout drills it into the mind of infomercial watchers 24/7.
