confused about muscle confusion

The average gym goer is the living definition of muscle confusion. Something different every day, cause "you don't want to get bored." Bosu balls, standing OHP while balancing on a swiss ball, 1/4 squats and mini leg presses are the tools of their trade. If an exercise doesn't increase a measurement by .5" overnight, move on to the next best movements. When you are done with your "new every day" routine, get your "tropical smoothie" add a scoop of protein and a chicken salad croissant and then head to Target for the sale on tight jeans.

I tell my body that I'm going to do arms and then suddenly jump under the bar to squat and my body's all like, "holy shit, what are you doing?!" - that's REAL muscle confusion.

So by muscle confusion, does that mean changing from barbell exercises to dumbbell exercises so that your muscles get confused and say to themselves "crap, he's using a dumbbell, better start growing now".
