Great disussion, Thanks 5Kg. It's fun discussing this stuff with mature people that don't get "out-of-sorts" when somebody has a different view.
I will definitely research it more, I'm not really tied to one idea or the other. |

I do some static stretches prior to training and it seems to help quite a bit. Granted the stretching is only held to 2-3 five second holds on whatever is feeling tight; most often this is my shoulders and hamstrings. If something isn't pretty tight, I won't stretch it.
If a muscle is tight, I don't think stretching that area out moderately prior to training will be all that bad, rather can help get that body part into the proper position when moving the bar/weight. I do suspect stretching to much or stretching muscles that are already loose/limber can have a negative effect on one's stretch reflex and stability with heavier loads -- an issue that seems to be very common for folks with hyper-mobility. My 2 cents anyway... |
