Explosive full body movements. For barbell work I have to go a gym right now. That's an hour out of my way on a good day. I prefer density training over basic sets & reps.

Deadlifts, squats, power cleans, clean and press, bench press make up the bulk of my training these days. Also do chins, dips, weighted carries, and strongman training when I have the equipment handy. I have been known to pick up anything that looks really heavy if I think no one is watching, then put it back down, just to see if I can.

I use primarily a body-part style hypertrophy routine through the week, focussing on heavy compounds and some explosive movements. No small joint isolations, for the most part.
Weekends I do Strongman training - yoke/frame/farmers walk, log clean and press, heavy bench press, power stairs, axle work, etc. Last edited by Abaddon; 09-11-2011 at 11:35 PM. |

ahh nice nice. i guess after years of trial and error you figre out what works for you. I'm suprised I didn't see more people mention 5/3/1.. most big guys I know are doing that (and love it), or splits
5/3/1 looks cool, except i don't really like working in the rep range of any lower than 5 reps, anyone feel me on that? |

If I were a powerlifter I'd be using either 531 or some westside stuff. My wife is pregnant right now, but when she's ready to train again she'll be doing 531. I think it'll be perfect for her as a beginning powerlifter.
