Pick dumbbell up, pull it to to chest, lower, repeat. Hehe. The DB row is probably one of the least complicated movements. The more you tuck the elbow into the side you get more lat involvement. Keeping the elbow flared and out to the side will bring in more upper back. Anything specific you want to know?

My only advice is to explode the bar off the ground and keep the movement natural. I've tried the movement with one knee on bench, but I prefer it standing up with both feet on the ground and one hand on a bench.
Use a strap if you need too, and treat the movement like a single arm power clean, so to speak. Do not pull with the hand. Start the lift by pulling the elbow back and complete it by contracting the lat back. This should be performed in a fluid manner, again with force and strength. The biggest mistake I made over the years was trying to baby back exercises and gently nurture them up. I am not calling for sloppy form, but you must row with the power of a Viking.

Your hand is a hook in which to sit the weight. The movement comes from your back. If yo struggle to feel this, have a training partner gently tap your lat' before you start each rep' for a couple of sets.

Thanks for this. I used to do it this way but then came under the impression it was wrong.

It doesn't really matter as long as you can keep your back in a safe position, and perform the row movement properly.

No, not wrong. I prefer the stability of having 2 feet on the ground. I was a knee on foot rower for a long time. Either way is fine.

I'm with Steve. I always get winded way quicker by having a knee up.
