Learn the difference between discomfort and damage. Push through pain, stop if damaged.

Now I just need to take my own advice.

1 – Be honest with yourself. You may be partial to certain lifts, specific techniques or training systems, but if it’s hindering your ability to move closer towards your goals, ditch it.

2 – Flawless technique is a foundation built with thousands of repetitions under both light and heavy loads. One benefit of light loads, such as an empty bar, is that it can be used daily to reinforce efficient technique while also improving recovery.

3 – Always start lighter and easier than you think necessary. This is a hard pill to swallow, but doing so helps avoid burnouts and will ensure long-term progress.

Compound movements build muscle mass, not curling in the squat rack!
