when body fat% gets lower, does it go down faster?
it seems as though now when i drop 2 lbs on the scale my body fat % moves further then it did when i was 25 lbs heavier. Is this the case?
I measured last week at 219 lbs and was 11.4%, now at 217 Im showing 10.7%. is that about right? That is using a skin fold 3 pt method, acording to doug at m and s i was 13% at 219. |
The more you lose the faster it goes down.
When you weigh 300 a 10 pound loss will result in a 3.33% bodyfat drop. When you weigh 200 a 6.66 pound loss will result in a 3.33% bodyfat drop. It's ratio driven, so the lighter you are, the more it reduces with each pound. |
thanks steve, thats what i thought but not sure.

Yep. Also another reason why the last few percent make the most difference, fat comes off the stubborn areas last and really gives that impressive look.

Think of it as a 200 lb bench press (fat lost each week). If Steve, gasper and I do do the 200 lbs, its the same weight (fat loss each week) but my b/w to press ratio (new body weight) will smash Steves or G's (old bodyfat % ) |
Did I just hear the big guys being called out? LOL

This Q? really does belongs in "General Fitness & Health" not "Bodybuilding". |
thanks guys, I agree on the last bit makeing the biggest difference. I am not carrying extra fat anywhere but the abs are still not popping out. I think 1% reduction is going to make a huge difference right there.
