Mate if it was easy, everyone would be doing it!!!! Getting big and/or strong is something that takes time, hard work and most of all, a lot of heart! If you train hard, you will get big, the less effort you put in, the less results you will get.
This more or less sums up the difference between someone who just goes to the gym and someone who actually trains: - "Most powerlifters share some common defects. We, as a whole for whatever reason, LOVE to punish, beat and torture ourselves beyond the limits of mind and body. It is our spirit that prevails. This defect of intelligence and sensibility pushes us on to the next level, makes us better and stronger. We all have lifted sick and badly hurt. When this subject comes up with normal people and other meatheads, we all have that prideful smile when we talk about lifting with a 100 degree temperature or a torn groin. Thank God that therapy doesn't work on us." - Kirk Karwoski ^^^^THIS!!!!

Dont hate me. I feel the need to answer your question with a question:
What is YOUR plan of attack for working your lowerbody? Never look for the easy way out, but work smart, not hard... Neglecting your lowerbody isnt smart. Not only will you be disrespected by peers, itll compromise upperbody growth. |

You need to squat and deadlift if you want to get big and strong

I wouldnt say you NEED to squat and you NEED to dead-lift. I know plenty of fighters who are big who don't even touch a dead-lift, and if you are not going to squat I would look at really going at your legs with something else then..Maybe HEAVY leg presses to start..If you don't know the motion don't do it till you learn how to dead-lift with correct form..If you mess up, you are done for awhile.

You don't need to live in the gym. My clients typically have half an hour twice a week with me, total one hour a week, compared to the 5-12 hours you're talking about. It's all about intensity.
Doing the same routine on your own it'd be a full hour twice a week, or better three times a week, for 3 hours. You just have to get your arse into gear working properly. That means focusing on - you guessed it - the big compound lifts, squat, split squat, front squat, powerclean, deadlift, bench, row, overhead press, inverted rows or chinups, that sort of thing. No faffing about with curls and crunches.

This post is killing me. I don't know if it's just rubbing me the wrong way or maybe I'm subconsciously having a bad day or what, but this post is just absolutely killing me dude.
