I do try to keep the same ROM, makes the transition between the two easier.

But if you do a wide grip guillotine bench press with a reverse grip, your elbows are tucked in and it's a fun lift to do (in the safety of the power rack of course), and it's another option if all of the incline benches are occupied and you just don't want to wait anymore, but I hear what you're saying the conventional grip with flared elbows is hard on your shoulders.
