this is what you rowed last session.

BB Row-
115x12
135x8
145x8

Add another 50lbs to that, and lets see how your back is feeling.

Get your deads up over 300 for reps and once a week is plenty.

Keep working the program as it is, and give it time to work,..

Wait. Haven't we been down this road already? Were going in circles.

Coop, your enthusiasm is fantastic, but IMO if you put as much effort in to progressing on the program as it is written, rather than how to change it/add to it/modify it etc etc then you would be even further along in your progress.

Get good at the basic program as it is, then get REALLY good at the program as it is, then when GL thinks you are ready HE will add bits for you.

This philosophy is working well for me mate and at about 15-20 years older than you, I am getting some of my best progression i have had in a long time, I am confident that if you just ran it as it is (even for a year) you would make amazing gains in size and strength...

Carl.

its very easy to let yourself get ahead of yourself (especially with the enthusiasm of youth), but the 'basic' program will produce gains really well if just ran as it is. There is no need to swap things around or change it. If you do it as written for as long as possible you will make awesome gains in strength and size and you can get more enthused about that than anything else IMO...

Carl.

This thread has been very insightful for me as I have fallen victim to a lot of foolishness the past 18 months. By no means am I saying you are foolish Coop, but I totally understand your desire to overthink everything and find ways to work harder or reinvent the wheel. I never saw a lift I wouldn't try to work into my routine, always thinking I would hit every conceivable muscle in my body from every conceivable angle and somehow I would create a perfectly balanced body, whatever that means.

Finally, it struck me that I will never be using a single arm incline cable pull or a concentric DB preacher curl in real life. If I want to pick something up in my garage or throw my children up when we play, I'm not really going to be any better at it because I did decline flys the day before. At least your modifications have some basis in reality because of your impingment and uber-enthusiasm, mine was just idiocy apparently.

It was an epiphany. Only took 18 months to hit me. I think you are ahead of the game.
