Is training for the "burn" an efficient method of training when trying to add muscle? Or are you testing your ability to handle the pain from lactic acid buildup more than you are challenging your muscles? What say you?

There has to be balance. As long as progressive resistance is in the mix, you can do just about anything and make gains. But living to see how deep you can go with post-failure training, I'm not a big fan. I don't workout to see how much lactic acid pain I can tolerate.
