Bodybuilder but not a bodybuilder
I was talking to my father about lifting yesterday. He was very big into the bodybuilding scene in the early 70's and made a comment that got me thinking.
He said that is the early 70's, most of the guys that were into lifting wanted to look like the bodybuilders. But today, most of the lifters don't want to look like the top bodybuilders. It's almost like a new class of bodybuilder has popped up. Like the top tier guys have now defined bodybuilding as ridiculous, but the rest of us still call outselves bodybuilders. We know that there are 2 types of bodybuilders: BODYBUILDERS and bodybuilders. So my father said we are bodybuilders, but not a bodybuilder. It's hard to call myself a bodybuilder, because of the association with the mass monsters. So what do we now call ourselves? |
Modern bodybuilders are fat, sick, bloated pigs who are about as healthy as a 1,000 pound blob of fat.

I am watching Dorian Yate's Blood and Guts video. It is quite impressive, but I'd rather look like Arnold or Mike Mentzer.

i used to like Lee Haney....
but Rick i dont know what i would call myself... i dont even think body builder is a proper term, im not big enough nor am i really that interested in being that big really |
I like big. But there's only so far you can get naturally, so I settle for almost big.

powerlifting. who wants to look like the modern day roid-head that don't eat any carbs? there is a difference to supplementing testosterone and being a roid head. I'd rather be able to lift something, than to look like I can lift something, but cant
