Great idea Ramon. I'll start. Here is what I believe:
--New lifters should log everything, no exceptions. They often undereat. --Overweight new trainees should lose the fat first. --New lifters should spend the first year working primary compound lifts and eating like a sumo wrestler. Learn the lifts, and maximize muscle. There is no point in doing flyes if you can't bench 200. --Progression. Beginning and intermediate lifters should be trying for one more reps or more weight on EVERY set of EVERY workout. --Most hardgainers aren't logging their food, and are either under-eating or not out-eating their metabolism. --The "muscle confusion principle" is extremely over-rated. The reality is this...natural lifters can only gain so much muscle, and after a couple years of training gains are extremely difficult to come by. A consistant effort for progression (with heavy compounds) will do just as much good as "confusing" your muscle. --The best way to bulk is by adding whole milk, almonds, and a monster evening meal to your diet. And then snack on Doritos or junk food before bed. --I believe that if a new lifter only benched, squatted, rowed and deadlifted, and ate like a monster, he would grow rapidly. --I believe that more is not better. If you can't hammer a muscle in an hour, you need to re-assess your training methods. This applies to naturals, of course. --I don't believe anyone has any business using PH or AAS unless they have added at least 20 pounds of pure muscle naturally, and have a 3 lift total over 1,000.

You should see me when I get rolling...I can blather on for entire web sites
![]() I should have put a caveat on the PH/AAS use. I don't begrudge anyone over 30 for giving them a try, even if they haven't hit the numbers I posted. Getting old isn't easy, and low-T isn't fun.

I really don't believe in over-thinking it. Move weight, eat healthy, do work, get rest. And you're good! Not too deep there is it
I like lifting! If you don't enjoy doing it, you ain't gonna get anywhere!

In a Nutshell
With proper form, stimulus, nutrition and recovery: Everything Works, but nothing works forever This is why the Conjugate method has shown extreme results. Thats not only in powerlifting. When applied to Bodybuilding(if absolutely need be), Athletics, or any other type of training, the methods will produce results. I have been and plan to stay drug-free. I do not think that those who participate in use are wrong. That is just my decision. I understand that absolute peak performance potential does not come without the use of anabolics, but individuals can definitely perform at extremem high levels without them. You want to move heavy weights: work on increasing your rate of force development. You want to have big muscles: Science shows that heavy negative work is the best method You want to look pretty: Rep your ass off, Run all the time, and eat very little I could ramble for Days, Months or years. I will be glad to offer any advice or answer and questions. |

BWYS...could you give some simple examples of how you feel a bodybuilder could perform negatives?
Should they be done on all reps? And with the same tempo, or varying tempo? Interested in exploring how you would train with negatives if you were a straight bodybuilder.
