I started going for mad walks until I come home hunched over and unable to straighten my back (in hopes of preping it for the weights). So now my question is: I started with something I know I can do without causing my back to much stress which is 175 with a rep of 12. I used to be able to do 350+ easily but my actual limits are supposed to be 50lbs (according to the doc). I tried 200 the other day and my back hurt for two days solid with me hunched over, when do you think would be a perfect time to up the weight or is there something different I can do to try and get my back a little more used to heavier stuff?

just take it slow Tim... nice and easy, if you are going to up the weight do it gradually, like 5 lbs a week or something like that... that way your back gets used to the weight increase over a period of time... you know what i mean?

You need a break in period of about a month where you just do some general conditioning and work on perfect form. During this time use a lighter weight and just try to acclimate to the stress of lifting.

Yeah man take it easy for awhile and go up gradually. I acquired a minor tear of my AC joint last fall and pushed myself to keep lifting heavy and only took a week off and now its so fkd up I need to have surgery. So I recommend you take it easy for awhile and start low and slow. I know it sucks not being able to lift like you want to, but its better safe than sorry man.
