Default Calves and Muscle Size

So here's the question. Saw this elsewhere on the nether...

Do you think most lifters have small calves:

A) Because they just won't grow, and are truly a frustrating body part?

B) Because people are simply not hammering their calves hard enough, like they do other bodyparts?

B- Arnold stated many times that the only way he got his calves to respond was to bomb the hell out of em........ he talked of 1000lb calf raises with Reg Park- at high volume.

I've done 1000lb calf presses for 2x35,and over 800 for a straight and easy set of 50. Which is something over 99% of people of people don't do. People go too easy on those calves. Same as traps. Smaller ROM,hammer them.

Calves need it all...weight, reps, endurance, explosive or not much will happen (for most)...focus on them like people do biceps and they will grow...

B...people forget that's one muscle that's constantly being used...so just some weight and a few reps is not gonna do it.

I tend to think more people don't push calves using progressive overload for 5+ years and give growth a chance. Bot saying their aren't stubborn calves out their, but I have read stories about John Christie hammering people with progression and it seemed to work.

A friend of mine who is a basketball player is training his calves CONSTANTLY. Calves are really important for jumping, i.e. he needs them big time. His coach suggested that he should always keep the calves working. Waiting at the bus stop? Watching TV? Cooking? You name it. Stand up, and raise your body using your calves.

There are stubborn calves, but there are also stubborn biceps. With biceps, people go on a holy quest to get growth but more often seem to accept small calves....plenty of bro's in tank tops and long pants...lol

Maybe a combination of A and B?

I hammer mine twice per week and got them up to 17.5 cold at their best. Being over 6", it's hard to pack on size in the same way. My calves lag behind both my arms and neck.
