I will just add doing super high volume on the core lifts is probably going to leave you feeling pretty beat up. Not sure how that's programmed with gvt but I always thought 10x10 was a staple of it.

I did GVT (10x10)...some moves I really liked at that volume, but most of them were a grind. Fatiguing without feeling super productive. That's just my experience with it though...

I am not a powerlifter nor am I a bodybuilder. I just want to be big and strong.

No trouble @ all!German Volume Training for Shocking Muscle Growth | Muscle & Strength

Just my opinion, but reading everything you wrote..this might just be the 'break' you need. Do it for 9-12 weeks while you figure out what you are going to really commit to for the long haul. My 'rebuttle' statement is this is not my forte'! I feel like I am finally getting on solid ground myself with the weight training! Hope that helps some! I will be curious what you end up choosing.

Josh,
You're only talking 3 or 4 months and you're wanting to get out of your rut, sounds like a perfect time to have some fun for a few months. Since you are cutting, you'll want to maintain strength, but it's going to be hard if you start something new. I've often thought about what I'd do on a cut? I think I'd cut my 5/3/1 down to the bare bones and have a bunch of fun getting into better shape. Something like. . .

Monday:
Bench - 5/3/1 sets and reps
1 Arm Row - 10 sets of 3 reps
SAQ Training (sprints, jumps, bear crawls, etc.)

Wednesday:
Squat - 5/3/1 sets and reps
Sit-ups - 5 sets of max reps
Prowler pushes or Sled pulls

Friday:
Military Press - 5/3/1 sets and reps
Chin-ups - 20 weighted singles
Strongman Training (Farmers walk, Tire flipping, Sandbag drills, etc.)

And if you are really just sick of 5/3/1, then you can just take the Bench, Squat, and Press and work up to multiple triples or something like that.
