Default How much does genetics play a role?

How much would you say that genetics plays a role in body building? I believe that it plays a rather large role. You can not get huge if your body is not made that way.

anything is possible like you wont get taller, but you can for sure get bigger with muscle mass. If you train your heart out and breath and sleep lifting you can make anything possible.

i would disagree a bit with you, genetics do help like some body types are more capable of packing on mass more easier like a mesomorph but i think anybody who puts the work in on training and diet and studies everything there is about muscle building and strength can achieve a decent size .

I personally feel it has a lot to do with it. Yes, with dedication you can pack muscle mass onto your frame. But if your genetics graced you with narrow skeletal geometry through the shoulders, no amount of muscle mass will give you that wide back bodybuilders desire.

A lot to do with it for sure. You can work and work your butt but still not acchieve the results that you want to. Genetics plays a huge role weather we like to think so or not.

Sure it plays a big role. Guys like Arnie, Park and Kazmaier literally looked like they had walked off Mount Olympus from day one, that's (probably) very different from you or I.

But the more relevant question is, does it matter?

You only have one body, one life. You have what you have. And short of some pretty drastic steps to alter that, you need to make the most of it.

This is what I'm talking about, see around 22 seconds in:

The point I'm making is that we're born with what we have, while that might not be the same as everyone else, neither are most things. And like most things we need to make the most of what we do have.

I think that's a fair point, no?
