well I found the 5/3/1 was a good work out to build starting strength for the WSBB. But if you want to gain size I would say 5x5 might be a good one(Have not ran the 5x5)

I think both approaches are good if your goal is to get big and strong. Although there are a few different 5×5s, so it would be helpful to know which one(s) you are thinking about. Also how much experience do you have? Approx where are your lifts. 5/3/1 has a fixed progression which is great for the experienced intermediate lifter, but imo may be a bit reserved for the beginner to early intermediate lifter. Just my take.

How is your squat and deadlift form? Confident, or not so sure? Where are your bench press, squat and deadlift numbers right now? These questions will help us a bit.

Generally speaking, based on your numbers I would say a 5x5 might be better. However, you are a tough case because of your injury. It sounds like you have an injury that is truly worth being concerned about.
Either way, to do 5/3/1 you will need to squat, deadlift and OHP as will a 5x5. Are you capable of performing these lifts? Furthermore, I personally am not the biggest fan of stronglifts 5x5. I think there are better options. Although, to be honest, I've never done it, so my opinion is based on the program and the community surronding the program. I guess it's just my personal opinion.
