what is the ideal ratio of push to pull movements? some people say 2 pulls for every push but that seems like too much to me .I would of thouhgt 1 pull for every push would be fine ?

It is fine. However, the pulling muscles are generally bigger/stronger.

As long as you balance the load on your body, you shouldn't end up with any problems.

One to one is fine. You can generally work the back more frequently without penalty so a little more pulling work won't hurt.

Typical beginner routines have the 2:1 ratio...

Pushes
1. Bench
2. Press
3. Triceps

Pulls
1. Deadlifts
2. Squats
3. S.L.D.L.
4. Chins
5. Rows
6. Curls

Why is a squat not considered a push?
