Default Struggles

What are some of the struggles you are facing or did face when you first started out lifting? Me, I am finding that my small gym does not have the equipment I need or want to use. I could go to another gym but that would involve driving for 45 minutes one way and I can not afford to do that time wise.

Coming to the realization that I had no idea what I was doing....and the last 5 months could have been much more productive if I had listened to people who knew what they were talking about

Pretty much the same issues as moe. I listened to people on the wrong things. I knew how to run my diet, knew nothing of weights. Of course, I changed my diet and get no where on my lifting and added mostly fat for a few months before getting it all straightened out. Now I listen to what people say and test it against what I know works for me before I give it a go.

Getting hold of the equipment, I ended up buying the very last weight plates and barbells that the shop ever sold. They've had two shorter barbells (4') and a few oly plates since but nothing useful, no oly barbells to go with them.
