Default muscles to fat

I have heard that if you do decide to stop training, your muscles you have will turn to fat. Is this true?

Nope. Two very different types of tissue. Muscles can shrink and grow, and so can fat cells, but one cannot change to the other.

A qualified doctor once told me that...but it's biologically impossible, as Bruteforce has explained.

If you stop working out, then you have to adjust your diet accordingly. Otherwise your muscles will shrink but your fat cells will grow, thus giving the apperance of turning muscles to fat.

Muscles and fat are two different entities entirely. Apples and watermelons to compare them respectively.

The myth that muscle turns into fat is preached far too commonly.. its quite irritating..
As 5kglifter stated above he was even told this by a qualified doctor.. I was also told this by a tutor when doing fd sport & exercise science. Shows that alot of "professionals" often know a little about alot of things rather than the specific science needed for in depth explanations of specific areas..

No, muscle does not turn into fat.

Not me. I would look funny carrying that much muscle around my mid-section.
