I really like listening to smooth jazz guitar.
The music relaxes me, and keeps my aggressive ass out of prison. What do the rest of you listen to for relaxation purposes?

I love softer stuff too, and also just different styles of music. I even know how to swing dance.
Other than just good old classical music, I also like bands like Eisley (Helps that the ladies in the group are quite nice looking). My wife is a fan of solo piano classical. I can't listen to it too much, but it's a really nice change from time to time. Good thinking and feeling music. One of the good things about being big and strong is you can say things like I just said and people still can't talk s***. |
I find a couple minutes a day to meditate. It sounds stupid when I say it aloud. But I turn all the shit in my house off, find a quiet place, and for about 5 minutes I concentrate on breathing.

Jazz doesn't relax me. It stimulates me, even the slower stuff. Just something interesting in all the changes and evolutions the music takes.
Honestly, late 70's and early 80's music realxes me. Yes I mean that mishmash from rock to disco to pop to new wave, all that stuff relaxes me. It takes me back to my younger days when I had no cares except hoping the next song on the radio was one of my favorites, and my mom wouldn't find my stash. You'll have to imagine what my "stash" was. :) Well, except for Black Sabbath, that was never very soothing, but then again I always liked taking the crazy train now and then. And that had nothing to do with my stash, btw. Just my mood. |
I listen to low-fi, alt country and some forms of jazz.

Renaissance Italian for me - Lassus and Palestrina - both secular and sacred. Beautiful, ethereal and restful.
Or Bach's Goldberg variations, played by Glenn Gould (1981 version). |
Classical music for me. It just relaxes my entire body.

Jazz is great Coletrane, Davis two of my favorites. I also like metal, country, classical, bluegrass, and rock.

Classical music for me.

I do not mind jazz music. It is upbeat, but it does not really relax me.
