I believe there were diet/portion recommendations, but this was the specific avoid list.

Exactly. That was thought reading this. They didn't have the degree of processed foods and additives we do, so I am sure the list would be a bit longer today, but the core is strong.

Though I see the point to most of the above, I will never understand the problem about eating potatoes; I practically lived on them as a kid and was skinny...it's what people put with them that makes them a problem, IMO.
