Why did the paleo section die?
I am just trying to keep this section going and I know we still have a lot of low carb dieters here. Lets get some information from eachother, I want to know:
What are your low carb meals like on a daily basis? Or what are your go to easy meals? |
I will start by giving you guys a typical day of eating for me, I am still trying to get into a routine after being laid off from work.
Wake up: Preworkout, Razor 8 and protein shake with added bcaas on my way to the gym Post workout: AA Rehab w/ v8 fusion Breakfast: 6 egss and usually a couple slices of bacon if I have it Mid afternoon: usually another shake Next meal: Leftovers or something easy on the grill: burgers, brats Dinner My big meal: Steak or chicken, or burgers with vegetables done on the grill |

dont know about easy go to meals. I tend to do all my meals the night before, but i snack on cheese triangles and sliced ham quite a lot :) I have been a bit off the wagon with the diet lately, no excuse just laziness, but I am hopefully back on track now. I find the food for low carb great, but it does take a bit of thought and preparation. I think the hardest part is coming up with different meals rather than just meat salads and omellets lol :D Carl. |
I am still low-carbing it.
We have actually become very creative with our cooking in the last 2 months, and now do things like cook our veggies in the beef drippings for added flavor, and things like that. We also use the crock pot more often and stick meat in their to cook all day. We rely a lot on butter and some olive oil. One of my go to snacks is sausage and cheese. I know some of the Paleo guys avoid cheese, but I love the quick combo of this snack. Also doing a lot of bacon wrapped chicken, covered in cheese. One of my staples has become the combo of sour cream and salsa. I add this with some of my meats and it's uber. |
Awwww yeaaah. Food, my first passion for becoming badass before I figured out how to pick up heavy things.
Today is a pretty standard day for my meals, so here it is. Breakfast - 4 scrambled eggs and 3 slices thick cut bacon. 1 liter water Pre-lunch -2 hard boiled eggs Lunch - 12-16 oz Turkey Laarb (VERY spicy Hmong dish, ground meat, herbs, chilis, and fish sauce) Pre-dinner - handful of almonds or baked pecans with butter and cinnamon Dinner - Steak salad, about a pound of thinly cut beef with a few oz of provolone cheese and plenty of pepperochinis Post-Dinner - 3 strawberries and a small handful of almonds. Go to dinner is the Taco salad or chicken/steak fajitas. |
This is great stuff guys, I am getting some good ideas already.
I also do a lot of taco meat, I do not really worry about the minimal amounts of bad stuff in the seasoning. I believe it is less than 1 gram of carbs so that does not bother me. I was doing much better when I was at work. I would have a salad with chicken each night for dinner and snack on almonds and other things. I love the grill and I wish meat was not so damn expensive. |
turkey-pepperoni and cheese
tuna right out of the can (can it get any easier) Chunk of smoked salmon (just got easier) I do the protein brownie/muffin/pancake thing sometimes Shrimp, shrimp and more shrimp Sometimes I have scallops with my shrimp Sometimes I wrap my scallops and shrimp in bacon meatloaf stuffed with cheese Ham steak Pork chop smothered in sauteed/grilled onions I have frozen protein drinks in popsicle molds -great in the summer Olives added to anything make it betterer Grilled squash, mushroom, pearl onion, garlic clove, cherry tomato, pepper, kabaabs (sometimes you can find these veggies already prepared in the market - just put them on a stick and add fire) Of course you have chicken/turkey in all of its various forms that should get you through a coupla weeks |
Pretty typical day for me
B-fast - Coffee, 8ozs fruit, 12 ozs. meat or salmon, 8 whole eggs, tallow, vitamins pre-training - 1 egg, 1/4 cantaloupe, cup gunpowder green tea & mate' post-training - 10ozs. cherries, 1.25lbs. of meat, tallow, 8ozs.chopped veggies dinner - 1.25 -1.5 lbs. of meat or fish, 10ozs. mixed veggies in tallow On shopping day I grill off a few (5-10#) pounds of meat so I always have meat in the fridge ready to go. I cook dinner every night. |
Loving this stuff guys keep it coming.
I am just about to throw some stuff on the grill. About a pound and a half of steak, a venison tenderloin, and a couple of chicken breasts. I am also doing broccoli on the grill, my favorite, wrap the broccoli in foil with a bit of olive oil, salt, pepper and garlic. Throw it on the grill until the meat is done, wonderful. |
Im not on a paleo style diet, but one of my favorite snacks (even if im sick of it, eating it 2-3 times a day sometimes) is canned makerell in tomato sauce. It contains about 8grams of good fat per can, and alot of omega 3.
