Punch the clock. Don't let a mediocre workout throw you off balance. Don't look too deeply at one bad workout, trying to analyze what went wrong. Progress will come. Trust the process, trust your program, and put in your work. The longer you do this, the slower progress becomes. View things in a yearly sense. If you bench 275, adding 25-35 pounds a year will add up quickly. Judge the success or failure of your programming by how much weight you've added during the last 6 months. If you're squatting 400 and have added 30 pounds to your squat in 6 months, the program is a success. My points are twofold: 1) Don't sweat bad workouts. They are part of the process. They are not steps back. Trust your program, dedication and hard work. If you have a bad set, don't quit. 2) When analyzing your programming, be fair. Look at progress over the last 6 months to a year and plug that into the big picture. Has this progress been reasonable?
