For those that use chalk, do you have a preference and why? All answers will be useful for others considering purchasing chalk for their training.

Have used liquid chalk in the past and while its better than no chalk, its not all that great. Sweat quickly compromises the film it puts on the hands and use to much liquid chalk and the thick layer of film also comes off easily which does the grip no good.
Have used loose chalk, block, and the ball. Loose chalk gets everywhere quickly, layer of chalk is usually thin. Block chalk takes some time to get chalk everywhere but gets a lot of chalk on the hands. Ball chalk is mix of the two... nylon stocking-like bag filled with loose chalk... thin layer of chalk over the hands, quickly, and with little mess. Personally like loose chalk or the ball. Thin layer, everywhere, quickly. |

Block chalk. It's cheap. I usually crush it because it tends to break as it when in block form.

Have never done chalk in a bag. I don't really have a preference.
