Default Squats and Elbows

Elbow issues resulting from Squats seems to be relatively common. The long-term solution is of course stretching and/or bar placement. However I was thinking about this today as I get elbow issues from time to time as do people I know, and came up with a great idea. However like most great ideas, somebody else had already thought of it! So a quick google search came up with this:

It's not something I would do for maximum Squats or use exclusively but it could be a useful alternative. Enjoy and report back if you try it.

I've tried that believe it or not. I bought a Draper top squat years back and it was way too wobbly with 315+ so I attempted to use straps connected to the bar.

I didn't practice long enough to see if it would work.

I don't ever feel anything in my elbows with squats. My arms are pretty neutral. Unless I'm using db's.

Then again I don't squat 315. lol

I had a period when I did sets for time, 2-3 mins or so with a light weight, I used straps then cause they killed my shoulders. Never tried it when going heavy though.

Nice vid!

That's some clever thinking. Missed this before squats today but will try it out. I've used straps for front squats before but never thought for back.
