John McCallum and Keys to Progress
I haven't seen this discussed much, so was he either:
Or perhaps both? There's a big difference between the two. Discuss. |
I own the good. The tales are fun at times, but I always find myself looking for the meat. I will have to take a look at them again and comment.
I remember a story about 20 rep squats that was quite entertaining... |
I'm waiting for you to chime in before I go back and look at the workouts.
|
Definitely very entertaining stories, some of the humour was brilliant. (Basket case?)
He didn't speak much about heavy/light/medium if at all from what I remember but this was a typical workout: Press - 3 x 12 Squats - 3 x 12 Bench Press - 3 x 12 Power Clean - 5 x 5 Bent Row - 3 x 12 Something like that to be done heavy 3 times a week. His more advanced routines were even more work and not less. His cutting routines were 6 days a week for 40 sets a day. He claimed he bulked upto to the mid 200's and got his Squat to 500 doing this. |
I have read many of the stories but do not own the book. I find his writing style entertaining but some of his routines seem a little extreme.
|
This is bringing back some memories. I will have to flip through it again after dinner.
