I would add this little tidbit for thought as a beginner. Pretty much anything a beginner does is going to work, at least for awhile (granted some programs are much more effective for beginners than others). As a beginner one thing that can be taken advantage of is losing fat while gaining strength. I you are on a strength routine as a beginner, dont be scared to get out there and push/drag a sled or run hills or do sprints. It will help lean you out and should assist with recovery from them hard workouts. Bodyfat becomes much harder to lose as you age.
