![]() It does have another name as well, which I can't remember at present. (it's also called a SitFit; air-filled cushion) Baiscally, it's a flat bosu ball that you sit on, excluding all the other weird exercises they put on a sheet that comes with it; it's main function, however, is to keep the spine mobile whilst a person is seated. It also helps to maintain the correct curvature of the lower back and makes the core work due to the perpetual micro movements of the "ball", the pelvis is also tilted to a correct position whilst seated on it. The spinal column (between discs) gets nourished through the continual micro adjustments as opposed to seizing up after a day of being seated. It is one of those things that need to be started off slowly and built upon daily, slightly more time each day as it really does hit the core after about 15 minutes. But, it may be a worthwhile investment for those that are seated most of the day.

The XL is 36cm diameter, that's the one we have; it works brilliantly, sits inside the chair nicely.
XXL is 50cm, according to amazon.

I sit all day and try to keep good posture but go through some periods where my back doesn't like it. Do you think it would work ok for a flat, hard chair seat?

Yep, they're designed for that purpose, office chairs etc. I think your back will appreciate it.

No problem. Just check to see if there is any weight limit mentioned; I've looked on the packaging but can't see one, so I'm assuming there isn't and that the larger ones are meant for any size/weight adult.
If in doubt, just contact the company. They do show a guy standing on one doing balancing on one leg, so that makes me think they're not overly concerned with weight. They are also guaranteed for 30 years.
