Not in my house. I have a concrete basement. I have to ride it a bit.

I don't try to lower it slowly. I try to lower it safely. I get it to the point where I can safely let gravity do most of the work.

There are basically two kinds of animals on this planet. Predators, and prey.

People who lift weights are predators, the others are prey. Predator training takes a higher level of importance over the comfort of sleeping prey animals.

People who lift at planet fitness are prey animals. Thats not real training, it's like any other creature using hide in plain sight techniques to avoid being eaten.
However, if I awake Mrs Squatter at 4:30AM, I will then become the prey

This is what I do. Onto the thighs and then let gravity take over. Slowing down the negative on DL's over about 3pps seems like a bad idea to me.

Control it or if you're lucky and have a platform, let it drop from lockout and then saunter off basking in your own coolness

Yeah, I was probably confusing with my initial statement. The RDLing part for me is generally to about right above the knee, with back tight. Then Mr. Gravity kicks in.

The RDLing actually is a helpful cue for me. I sometimes break the knees too early and end up with some pretty impressive bruises to remind me not to do stupid things when the weight is heavy.

That sounds like a great idea, if I can get hold of one; where we live is one of those niggly places that companies don't like to send anything to and where the shops don't stock a wide selection of anything, and as for asking shop owners to get something in, you may as well try talking to a brick wall at times. Great idea though

Babs - Rubber matting that they use in restaurants is perfect. Hit up your locals to see when they're replacing theirs and then take it off their hands.

That's not a bad idea, especially since everyone gets charged to remove anything these days, thanks LtL!

You can get matting at a farm supply store for pretty cheap. I also found it at Wal-mart for dirt cheap. That's what I use. it has interlocking pieces, and you can stack it 3-4 high if need be.
