High Frequency - High Volume Poll
Poll...
Have you ever tried a high frequency, higher volume style of training, and if so, what were the results? |
I am currentlly training that way and love it. Gives more fullness to the muscles IMO
|
I used it for about 4-5 months back when I was 19.
I used a 3 on, 1 off, push/pull/legs approach. My daily sets were right about 30. This style of training introduced me to strains and lingering injuries. Never been back since. Right now my motto is...if I can't kill myself in an hour, I'm not working hard enough. |
I like it. I usually try to restrain myself, especially if I'm folloiwng a set program. But I just love the fullness and solid feeling I get after keeping my muscles going for so long, so frequently.
I do find that after 6-8 weeks of non-stop high level work, I need a break or deload to rest...or I start to lose progress and get tired within a few minutes of lifitng. |

I like my High frequent and High volume. Seems my body likes it.
I don't seem to feel it with lower sets anymore. |
I do an occasional set of 30-50 reps at the end of a workout to flush some blood, or fst-7's for isolation work but or the main lifts, no. I agree with Doc on this.

I saw this a while back and have been meaning to post on it:
I've generally used the higher volume stuff as a means to lose weight or for general cardiovascular fitness. Also it's pretty good for injury prevention as long as the exercises are varied. I've pretty much been in that mode on and off for a few years now. Having said i'm also at my most muscular now that I probably ever have been and as close to the maximum predicted muscle weight as i'm likely to get, so it's not been bad for size either. For myself higher volume has generally been 30 sets three times a week. Or more recently 30 sets four times a week for a total of 120 sets a week. Something like 24 sets per bodypart per week. Variety of exercises/sets/reps is very high, otherwise I burn out quickly on that type of volume. When i'm at my strongest training is very specific toward the type of strength I want to show (rep range, lifts etc) so I generally have a much narrower focus of exercises. |
Yeah I used it once for 3 years, this is all that happened...

I'm doing high frequency/volume now. I've never had big arms and my arms are looking bigger I think.
