Default HIIT, LIT and fat loss

Hate me if you must but I don't do cardio. Why is the HIIT/LIT argument so effin heated?

No clue. I actually see benefits from both and have done both as a part of my training (more for cardiovascular health than for fat loss or cutting, although I am sure that day will come).

They are both beneficial and they both work, so I see no need to argue about either.

It is kind of strange how aggressive people get over training dogma?
HIIT has it's place in fat loss and conditioning for sure.
LIT, I feel, is important for recovery. That is what I feel my dog walks are all about. For me at least.

Good post.

Personally, HIIT beats the snot out of my body, and I don't like to overuse it. Younger lifters will obviously handle it better than me. I handled it well at 18.

At my age though I prefer LIT just because it doesn't beat me up.

I think one of the main problems with this issue is that we have 5% contest shredded bodybuilders trying to recommend their methods on to the 99% who just want to lose the gut, moobs, or simply hit 12-15% bodyfat.

I am not discounting the fact that these uber-ripped lifters know how to get crazy ripped. Not at all. My point is that for average schmoes I don't think it particularly matters.

My opinion is always to use a form of cardio you enjoy. This isn't life or death. Have fun for God's sake. Don't punish yourself, or beat the crap out of your body just because you might be able to burn 3.23534453645634% more fat per hour.

Indeed! I couldn't handle 30sec. on a dreadmill.

I can skin, hike and bike all day long. Elk hunting, I have a hard time going home.

I do like my Litvi-Hill Sprints. I Farmer's Walk 1/2 mi. into the woods to do them though.

It seems like so long ago that lifting involved health, and was more holistic.

Nowadays, if you do anything for pure enjoyment, or maybe "just" for health, and it doesn't come from the standard OCD muscle/strength building dogma, someone invariably blows a gasket and calls you an idiot.

This turns every minor issue for a recreational lifter into a life or death situation.

Argh! You can't do whatever, whatever...you will lose 0.12452389664568906879% of your gains!!!!!!!!! Death is imminent!

In college I played basketball for about an hour after every workout and still made insane gains. I never followed PCF ratios and made insane gains. Heck, the several times I cut I didn't even do cardio.

I am no bodybuilder, for sure. But I do know that you don't need to park your car in the OCD garage to succeed.
