I left my response in the introduction thread.
I apologize that someone neg repped you. I removed that neg rep and comment. We don't work that way here. If you are getting enough protein you don't need to supplement with protein. With that said, post-workout whey can help because it is easy to digest, and much more convenient than chewing down a chicken breast immediately after your workout.

If you are getting sufficient protein there is no need to use a supplement. We should remember that supplement means that it is used to build up, or supplement, a deficiency. Most of us who use protein powders do so for 2 reasons. 1. convenience and 2. Our lifestyles make it difficult to eat the proper allotment of protein.
EDIT: To answer your question in the welcome thread a little more directly. BTB's response is spot on. I would also add that protein is the most thermogenic of the macros. You have to burn more calories to process protein then the fats and carbs. This makes protein a big help when seeking to lose weight and one reason low carb, high protein diets are effective. When setting up your diet to lose. Set your protein macros first then add the others.
