I am using "can contribute", and not implying these factors are absolutes. So I have started with: --Stagnancy - Lack of movement --Binge Eating - Consumption of food beyond a reasonable amount --Food Quality - Consuming a high percentage of food that is nutritionally weak

That said, 1. Lack of meal planning and prep (which leads to increased reliance on fast food or quick meals like Hamburger Helper).

The food quality point is a big one. The supermarkets are full of crap. Even the supposedly healthy stuff the inject and spray with chemicals, like the fruit and vegetables to keep them from going off. As I said before, Just trying to find some peanut butter that hadn't got a ton of sugar in it was very difficult. Found an organic tub and it was £2 more! Messed up. |

Additives in foods. Modified foods. Both can add to weight issues.

I like to think it is the "It's Not Your Fault" culture of today. No one seems to take responsiblity for their own helath.
Also a lack of time to cook. Families where both parents work are at a major disadvantage because of this. I did a report recently that found that families who eat dinner with the family at the table at least 5 times a week have lower risk of obesity (along with many pyscological and health benefits). They believe this is because of a) the quality of food b) conversation slows down the pace that people eat at c) creates a more stable home enviornment (stress and depression both lead to higher risk of obesity)
