I had the same experience, so I hope it's normal.

The tightness is more a function of your upper back. Rather than focus on the grip, focus on what the grip is supposed to let you do, which is to allow you to keep a tight upper back.
Choose whatever grip allows you to stay tight is what I would say. |

You mean with a wide-handed grip?

I believe torso angle when squatting is a product of bar placement. The lower the bar the more you will lean forward, the higher the bar the more upright u will be.
I have never squatted with a wide grip and do not have any experience of how it may impact my squat. Having said all that, I can't help but wonder if u may have inadvertently or unintentionally took a different bar placement along with the wider grip. Just my thoughts.

I know we were just talking about this a few days ago, but I use a wide grip. VERY wide. I hold on to the collars of the bar. It helps me to get my elbows higher, which helps me hold the bar much lower.

My current gym has power rack, only the little white squat rack thing. So I can't really reach out where I want to, so I'm forced into using a slightly more narrow grip, until I get the bar placed correctly.
