Geez! I know hormonal issues can cause weight gain and so forth but for the rest of society that doesn't suffer from that kind of thing, how are people allowed, or overlooked, to get so big to start with?

Wow that is quite a lot of pounds or stones. Good for him that he realized that he needed to do something about it. It will take some time for him to get rid of that extra skin with surgery and all but hey he is on the right track.
