Default Just burned myself

I was using my steam cleaner and let it sit for 10 minutes to cool while unplugged. I have used it many times in the past and it states cool 5 minutes before refilling with water. I slowly took the cap off and as I was almost done unscrewing it, hot water sprayed all over and burned my face, eyes, stomach and arm and hand. My arm got the brunt of it. It stings now. I used cool water on it to soothe it. What else should I try out?

Apply cold water to the burn...... if there is any blistering and / or tissue damage you may want to see a doctor. Some say that aloe vera soothes a burn. Sorry you got hurt .....

If there is any blistering, see a Doctor. If it's just red and sore, aloe vera will help quite a bit if you keep it slathered on. You bascially gave yourself a 1st to 2nd degree burn, like a bad sunburn.

I have a steamer myself, and always let it run out of steam, or sit for 30 minutes unplugged, and also point away and squeeze the trigger just to make sure it is pressure free before removing the cap.

As a professional chef for many years, I have had all kinds of burns, from steam, to grease. For either, it is best to soak in cold water (as cold as you can stand it) for at least 20 minutes. After that you will be extremely sensitive to heat and should apply Silver sulfadiazine. That will help heal the burns, deal with infection, and the like. Should be able to get the burn cream from your doctor.

Cool water and then lots of aloe. Do not let it get infected. It may be the best thing to see a doctor. Hope that you are feeling better now.

Word to the wise. Never apply butter. I did this thinking it would help, but only made it burn worse.

I suggest that don't use any cream that may cause more moisture to your burn areas. Keep them dry as much as possible and for that purpose use any good antibiotic drying powder or solution. If the damage is sever you should consult with your doctor..
