It's supposed to be good for aching muscles not so sure about sprained areas though; I guess it couldn't hurt any but for a sprain make sure the bodypart is strengthened a little via the use of a bandage around the area to give it some support, at least in the initial stage of the sprain/strain.

I have. I do not know how much it helps but I was always told by my mom that if you sprain your ankle it is great to soak in. Playing many sports has caused me injuries over the years and I do think that it does make it feel better somehow, though I am not sure how.

Espom salts are a form of magnessium, which has natural anti-inflammatory and pain relieving properties. When mixed with hot water, it is easily absorbed transdermally when soaked, thus providing fairly quick relief.
I've been using them for quite a while. I used to have a footwell tub, now I just use an old 5 gallon bucket. I add about half a box to about 2.5-3 gallons, and submerge until the water is just warm... good stuff, and cheap, and natural.

I do use contrast showers when really sore or strained. Works wonders for me in terms of recovery time. I do it with 4-5 mins VERY hot water, quick shift to 1min of icecold water, 2-4 times. Get a good fullbody pump going if done properly and helps flushing out alot of junk from the muscles i believe.
