The places really aren't designed for busting ass, they're there for the average person that just wants a place to workout; they're certainly not designed for Olympic lifter wannabe's or strongman lifter wannabe's and so forth...or at least, fitness centres are not, the odd gym here and there may well be but even the gyms clamp down on chalk and such. Places for people to workout are great, and each person has their own agenda, as already stated, but try finding places for those that really want to let the metal fly and it gets difficult...they may want to bust their ass in the gym but aren't permitted to do so...frankly, I reckon, if the writer took the time to think about what he wrote (even about that small point), he'd realise that a lot of people that bust their asses, do so at home that's one reason they're not really seen so much in the gyms.

Just because somebody posts an oposing viewpoint doesn't mean they are upset. We all see things a little differently.

Furthermore, this isn't my forum. Withholding posts from other members because of some perceived disagreement between you and myself is the last thing I want to happen. People want and need your help. If you have an issue with me, I hope you won't penalize everyone else. I feel like others have just been punished because I have an opinion.

May be I am just ignorant, but I think I will stick to the simple clean and press in order to improve my clean and press. ------------------------------------------- Also agree with OR, Ltl and BTB on the disses. In most cases, a lot of lifters looking for an easy way out (and believing that this exists) have simply been misled by the ads or just have different goals. The same people, more likely than not bust the a$$es in their day jobs to earn money and put the food on the table for their family. Fails in the gym, lifting big weights or looking good dont reflect the worth of a person. But yeah, if they tickle a funny bone, I will laugh and share it. That said, lets recognize the tone of the article is what it is in order to grab the reader's attention. I doubt if the author would be immature to judge a person based on his gym routine. I like a lot of the articles on T-Nation, but lately a good portion of them are spent pushing/trumpeting/explaining obscure exercises to strengthen weaknesses. I am not sold on them being needed for a good portion of the readership. I am a minimalist, what can I say. I reserve the right to be wrong or change my opinion.

Everything should be preceded by a statement of goals. If the person's goal is to look good and be lean and healthy, then they can pretty much get away with lifting however they want (within reason). If the person's goals is to be BIG and strong, then shut up and press (and squat)!

I didn't object to the message, people can train however the hell they want to train. Gym Rats can train as hard or as soft as they want, I honestly could not care less. They pay their fees so they can do what they like.
What I did object to was the writing style. That style of writing makes me want to jab a stick in my eyes. I can't believe anyone is actually taken in by such a horribly blatant attempt at trying to gain readers. It's Matt Furey but a hundred times worse. Appealing to 'real americans' from a type long ago... give me a ****ing break already. It's a blatant and transparent attempt to gain readers, the only difference here is that he's using something which people actually feel strongly about... their patriotism. I can guarantee you he doesn't give a flying **** about the average american and he's just using this to gain readers. That's why I objected and so should you. If someone wanted to introduce an article on Overhead Pressing by getting me to feel patriotic about Britain I would be offended. Britain is far more than a cheap ploy to be used to gain readers for some shitty T-Nation article. People should stop treating the patriotism of their country like some cheap whore who can be rented out to any slickster with something to sell. Last edited by Fazc; 07-09-2012 at 12:20 PM. |
